Just got this AMAZING game after wanting it for ages, if you havn't heard of it, basically its an online only game where you can do anytyhing you want to make money really, Cook, Tailor, farmer, animal tamer, woodsperson, alchamest (sp?), blacksmith, armourer, bower (i think thats what they are called people, who make bows :) ) lots more.

At the mo my character is more of a swordsman and has no profession as such, im going round talking to people telling them that i just died, basically begging its fun, take off all my armour andput on a robe that you get when you die and ask if they can help.

Another one is selling items to newbe players for more than they are worth, i sold a pair of boots to one guy for 100 gold, they sell for 10 in the local cobbler shop lol

Just wondering has anyone got this game if they have we can meet etc. Its a great game anyone who likes, Baldurs gate, Diablo etc would like it. But you gota pay for it every month cant remember the price i think i paid 20 pounds for 4 months. But well worth it.

I played this game for 9 months solid 2 years ago (UO:T2A) ... it is pure addiction (if you get into it) I mean cs is nothing... for 9 months this game stole my spare time & 20 hour sessions weren't uncommon!... got well into rare collecting/hunting... bugs, exploring..

HaYl0 is completly right, UO has it's own economy, society, fads lol... basically it is a 'world online' <--- lol check that no wonder i'm into advertising!... yer just becareful!...

I managed to break away from UO after 9 months only to revisit it twice, before I sold my account, x6 GM warrior, with a 1 million gold pink afro and 1 million gold sky blue goatee.. had over 11 million's worth of rares!.. (2 unique server births) & a nice beach house!..

I played on Lake Superior (East Coast US shard) The people in UO are ace... lol it's mad, I ended up making loads of US m8's going round to their UO houses and having partys (getting rat arsed) then dueling pissed.. people even get married! :/

lol sold the account for $29 - still the time it saved me after than has been countless... quite mad really as I found a free shard (no monthly or game fees) last night.

It's all 2d though and not run by OSI (origin systems) haven't spent much time on it but I did have a lil play this morning... it's completley free, so try it and if you like it, get a copy of UO (Age of shadows) is the newest release I think.

Yeh the new one is Sge of shadows. I played a free shard last year some time. But it is nothing compared with the official one, but good to get you into it.

Froggeh you should come back to it lol, you could help me out, play it in moderation :). I won 10k in a game of dice. 10k is enough to buy a house a small house but still a house. If i join a different shard it will be the same characther etc yea? I playing on Europa shard.

I know what you mean with the addictiveness, i started playing yesterday afternoon, then in work just spent all day talking about it with my mate who used to play it.

well the thing your telling sounds very cool, but I think I shouldnt start playing that cause Ill probably be addicted in no time, and these games costs lots and lots of time.

I basically started off my ripping off nubs :/ (I know, I have no morals!) But it didn't effect their game in the slightest!... what I would do was when you started a new account you could chose a gift called ranger armour!.. which could only be obtained by [young] status (nubs) so I would go chat 'em up offer them 5, 000 gold and get it!... I would then sell on this armour for 20-60k making a tidy profit in the meantime :P

When I got good, I just shopped about and sold at profit and killed them damn lichys!! 2k + magic items (easy kills - go city of the dead - dellucia t2a)... On Lake Superior I was completly flooky enought to place two houses..!! I mean i searched for days...really... but a house that cost me 25k to buy the deed for was soon sold for 500k!..

Just need a lil luck and a lot of time :P

rizzo and kaz (they play on loony and are my brothers) have been playing this game for years, they say its the best game in the world!!
seems a bit dull to me but i think thats cos it was so confusing.

The house thing has changed in the new game you dont buy deeds, you got to buy an house building item then build the house when you find some land, and it will take your gold from the bank.

But its finding the space.....

twas me, labs, catch 22, neg for a short period, and Xh@le, but its stupidly addictive :O for a game made in 1997 anyway...

well kinda... you can download it for free, because they want you to pay for the monthly charge, but you can download it, then just play free shards :P but don't, its too addictive, i used to spend prob 10 hours a day some days

ive played UO not the official sahrd for 5 years now nearly, so im an expert if you need any help, the official one is too easy for me

to show you how hard the shards i played are ill give you an example
on eternal myst, i was a veteran who played from day one, it was up 2.5years and in that time only one person ever Gm'ed magery and one who got 98%
one person Gm'ed archery ever too.
i Had a castle my own guild and millions of pounds, Gm fisher Swords Tactics Anatomy 80% parry 70%archery
that all took two years lol but it is great being one of the great powers of a shard, my guild was one of the most powerful around.

Bought it. Played it for a week. Threw it away. It has a nightmare learning curve- is not very user friendly and it just desnt measure up to moden mmorpgs

maybe not, but once u do get into it its seriously addictive, the good thing about it being so old is that anyone can play it, for example friend of mine had a pentium 266 i think, so he was fairly screwed for online gaming, but he could jump on this n play with the rest of us, course when we pld cs he used to just come round our houses and not leave for 6 hours lol
