Guild wars

Our little 12 year old has been dropping subtle (yeah right) hints all weekend about wanting to play Guild Wars.

He has of course been schooled in the purity and righteousness of counter-strike, but he is adamant that he wants to play GW.

Has anyone here played it? Is it OK for a 12 year old? I've bought him the orange box but he still seems to play runescape more often than not!!!

Nothing wrong with it, but get him WoW instead, much better :D

He's played WoW and he's not that into it. Not sure why... I think its what his friends play- you know...

yep guild wars is fine but Gw it self isnt played that often by other people. unless u get the expansion packs which is where most of the people will be i presume...
he migght like Cabal ( final fantacy look alike but it still like the wow/guildwars MMo)
or even Rappelz

I play guild wars quite a bit and also in competitive tourneys,

Its fun and easy to pick up also no monthly fee but after awhile the content dries up, unike WoW.

Should be easy enough for a 12 year old to play also nothing that should warp his mind,

Also chat filter to cut out the nasties if you want,

Ive been playing GW for the last 16 months and still play it every other night. Its better than WoW as its not about leveling/grinding and more about strategy and skill. He'll need to join a big strong guild if he wants to enjoy it alot but if your sons friends play it then it wont be a problem at all! No monthly fee's, one of the best stories, takes skill to play rather than just teaming up and grinding away and contrary to decoys statement, alot of people play it (you can barely hear yourself speak in a town on a fri/sat without turning off public chat)

i was talking about the First GW.... i played about a month ago and it was quite empty.... but thats prolly cos im still at the Ruined ascalon town :p

if his friends play it then it would be a great game to play
some of the missions take team work to complete 100%
and the NCP's done help that much
