here in DK that is a very known "problem", APG (Anti Pirat Gruppen) a private company hunts down and ruins young ppl's lifes... one frome my work got caught 3 years ago and got a message that they was nice because he was under 16 and he only had to pay 162.000 DKR (about 16.000 £) so it isnt for fun they do that sort of things.... Kazaa, edonkey and some others are monitered by APG constantly....

Are you not using a firewall to stop ya ip being sent out over emule? And it is rather amazing that they didnt do it for porn i mean what are the chances of them geting a non porn film? 1%

I don't have much sympathy for these mega corporations. Look at the amount of money they make, and the amount of money they charge for their products.
It's getting expensive though being on the net. You have to pay for winamp, winzip, winrar, hotmail, net access, machine, leccy, ...

A firewall wouldnt stop your IP being broadcast.
Seriously, I dont download from P2P servers anyway.
so, thought this post was a hoax at first to be honest. If you are gonna download bad stuff :p then do it via a private board™ somewhere is my advise.

Actually, it doesn't 'BLOCK' IPs... That's rather misleading... When they spider servers/trackers, they can see the ips connected to the said file, then all they have to do is a whois on the IP and they got your ISP details...
The only thing peerguardian does is keeps them from actually getting to your machine, but if your IP is visible on a tracker(bit torrent) or a node(emule/kazaa), you're as good as guilty anyway.... No need to touch your machine.
Just ask the thousands of people subpoenaed in the states how many were using something like peer guardian...
Here's a simple rule to remember... You are *NEVER* 100% invisible online. If you are doing something naughty, expect to be caught some day... It's just a matter of time. Some people are lucky (ahem), others aren't...

hmm.. i think we had in Holland a similar thing, but that was very short lived due to the "liberal" nature of the Dutch community (in other words, we won't do nottin' till the fat lady (=USA) screams)
I think that - with this type of matter on the background - some serious lawsuits will be held against the ISP in question. In commercials they promote their products as a way to download MP3/movie really fast.... sjeah right! :)

http://bbs.adslguide.org.uk/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=pipex&Number=1097859&page=&view=&sb=&o=&fpart=2&vc=1
Over 1000 pipex users got an abuse letter for downloading peter pan via bit torrent.

In "theory" what you COULD do if you want to use crappy P II P progies is to root a win2k server box on a nice adsl line or better - run crappy P II P prog on that and then f*p it to your box after turning off logging services or deleteing the relevent parts of the logs - Only know this as I saw it on TV once - ive never brought a piece of software in the last 10 years - I mean Ive never pir8ed anything ever your honour - well actually I meant the RIAA and every other outfit like them can kiss my lilly white @$$ - if your gonna download stuff from the net and you dont cover your rear end then the only person u can blame is yourself - the infos out there - you need to A) look for it (Hint - google) and B) Read it (Hint - stop useing crisp bags on the school slag and actually go to lessons) - I hope you all get busted and never protect yourself - then they wont go looking for me :D

Now thats the dumbest piece of reasoning I ever heard Raydox, albeit true...
You're the one using the program, thats simply means you are liable. Ppl designing these programs are not in violation of copyright, it's those foul and pesky downloaders that do so much financial damage to those poor jewish families that own Hollywood producing all that crap (That's not a racist remark that's a fact of life).
My motto is: most films are just pieces of crap nway, so just dl to your hearts content.
View it and judge it ---> if its a really good one, only then invest and copy and burn the full dvd from a friend.
And true, it seems much more comfortable behind a firewall, only we tend to forget that the external IP of the firewall is still linked to a personal subscription. with your name on it. So that doesnt make fokkal difference if they put a trace on you. The only they do not now is which PC it has landed on...
