K, my brother needs to buy his girfriend one of these, and asked me about them. Now, I just just a little MoVo Creative USB mp3 player thingy, but she wants one of these gimmics!

There seems to be a lot of different version about, and they are quite pricy. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has one, for their advice on which is the best type.

She has an iMAC, and I dont suppose she will store a huge amount of songs, but still.

This is what a quick search through up:

Apple iPod mini Silver 4 GB - £179
Apple ipod mini HD 4 GB Blue - £174
APPLE IPOD 20GB 4TH GENERATION 60MW AMP FIREWIRE M9282FE/A - £205
Apple iPod 40Gb (4 th generation) - £311

First stop for ya really, has reviews and comparisons between the generations. I'm pretty sure I have a 2nd gen 20GB ipod and I've never had a problem with it. A lot of people moan about the battery life but I haven't had any problems, it lasts a full day of playing and then needs recharged.

Great place to find ipods if your bro isn't worried about what gen his gf gets. I saved almost £100 on my ipod when I bought it over a year a go so 3rd gen ipod should be easy to find for cheap. Also with the 3rd gen you can get a 10GB model which is even cheaper and the smallest in size before you get to the gimmicky ipod mini (which are just a rip off IMO, just for fashion junkies with too much money)

http://promo.euro.apple.com/promo/refurb/uk/

Refurbished section of the apple store. Only opens on Wednesdays at 10:00 but always has offers on ipods if your quick.

Looking at the prices for brand new ipods on the apple store (and your only gonna save £5 or so if you go somewhere else) your best bet is to get a 20GB 4th gen ipod and use the free custom engraving promo they have on right now. He'll be in her good books for months if something cheesy is written on the back of the ipod :)

Hope all that helps :)

Best looking earphones for your ipod and they have cracking sound quality. The company are recommended by me as I've had no problems with them :)

Haylo: http://www.ephpod.com FAR FAR FAR FAR FAR better than itunes or musicmatch for song movement between ipod and computer.

EPHPOD! Easy as hell to use. Hayl0, the ipod should just show up as a drive on My Computer when you plug it in.

When I worked for 1&1 Internet, there was always loads of web hosting questions.

Now I work for Apple, there's still no escaping it :p :D

The best thing about the iPod; U2 have done a promotion with them using Vertigo. Seeing the advert almost makes it worthwhile to watch commercial TV.
