windows xp sp2

hello all long time no see. been away from the circuit for a period coz im doing le nightshifts at work. anyhow ive just installed sp2 on ma new pc. all is fine except for 2 things... it has made photoshop not work. which is my life as i am planning on making a grahpics design company with a friend.

the other problem is that i can no longer get themes on windows xp. all i can have is the bog standrd classic one. well i can have a theme on the boxes but the bar at the bottom looks like it normally would and its annoying me. not just wind windows blinds but with the original windows xp theme. :S anyone have any idea how to fix these problems

Unable to continue because of hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable.

ive reinstalled it about 4 times but still nothing

Theme error:

Applying Visual Styles Error
The visual styles could not be applied. Access is denied.

annoying as hell. ive googled them both but got nothing. anyone got an clue. thanx. phoenix

Lo again Phoenix, I've not had a problem with SP2 and Photoshop, I'm running PS8 and it's fine.

As far as the Themes thing goes, you need a replacement DLL file (I think it's themes.dll or something.) I'll have a nosey and see if I can find it for you

well i tried that trouty and well. its exactly the same... so you can get an idea of what i mean ive print screened this

the bar at the bottom will not skin but the actual boxes will. and i dunno why man ^^

photoshop is fixed i did what hayl0 said... although i did it a different way to the previous 10000 times so it worked.

mmm thats weird and photoshop worked because i asked it to :D

sorted the problem. ^^ photoshop broke again once i installed my plug-ins but i downloaded a random dll and put it into the sys32 folder and its ok again. plus windowblinds 4.4 was needed. i only had 4.2/ although i dont know why that affected the taskbar when using windows xp skin. weird but thanx for ya help anyhow
