Source Server has a map test session tonight starting around 7-7.30pm GMT

The map list is:

cs_assault_2005 - Added to mapcycle. Not the prettiest but good action and good balance
cs_assault_sm - Spawn bug problem
cs_ccity - Rubbish
cs_storm - Failed to run
cs_towers - Not actually a cs_ map. More an fy_ map. Undecided so may be tried again
de_courtyard_source - Only 12 spawns. Shame as map looked quite good.
de_face2face - Loads of levels but too big and easy to get lost.
de_inkas - Undecided. Good long and short range map but low fps in places (even on X800)
de_LaRose - Added to mapcycle. Good rush action.
de_lochs - Nice looking map but Ts got to B site first every time
de_minimetzel_hslan - only 24 spawns
de_quebec - added
de_train_2k5 - only 24 spawns

You can download the maps in advance from : http://csm2.net/index.php if you want. Otherwise you can download from the server. Some of the maps are quite small but one is 20 meg.

Hopefully, from that list we will be able to grab a few good ones. Then we can look at the current list of maps and see if they all make the grade and perhaps remove one or two which are not that good.

Regulars who cannot get on to play can pop into IRC and there will be an admin in there to make space for you so you dont miss out.

edit: Not all maps were tested. Remainder will be done Sunday

13 maps may not even get completed tonight so i think its unlikely.

Great fun- thanks for a good night. The assault was the best imho. None of the others were keepworthy for ma apart from maybe the skyscraper one (towers) as a fun map.

Map test will be finished tomorrow. I have updated the top post with the outcomes so far. I think you missed a good map noodle at the end de_LaRose.

i came on but jake has been on and reset EVERTHING.....none of my keys worked as they had been totally cleared and my buy scripts were up the wall.
Then he had the cheek to ask if i would let him play pool day on 1.6 !!

Towers was nice but I suppose too many places to hide for a fun map.
Face2face was unsuitable but whoever made it is definitely someone to watch, it's a really beautiful and complex map, but just too big.
Inkas did have performance issues, but it was great to have a map where the scout rules. On most servers (with AWP) it would be unplayable, but on loony I think it could become quite a favourite. It's a map where instead of just buying colt/ak you may actually want to buy the scout.

On the issue of current maps, can we please bin docks? It was never balanced in the first place, and with the water all messed up it's even worse than before. Another possible contender for the bin would be madhouse, it's just too big and timesout too often. Oh, and the poolday we have. I have Radeon 9800 and I get a max fps of about 3. And the spawns are screwed up.

madhouse and docks are contenders to be removed. I don't have any problems with poolday myself since we moved to the lite version.
