I was testing my map in CSS tonight and the PC crashed. Well... that is it came up with jaggedy grey diagonals all through the screen. The PC reset itself then booted up again. I started up Hammer and then I decided to turn off the overclocking on the GFX card and it only went and did the same thing again.
PC reset itself again. I've made sure the overclocking is turned off now and I'm sitting here typing but worried my card is going to crash any moment now.
Its a Gainward 6800 GT Golden Sample which is supposedly guaranteed safe for overclocking at these levels. The overcloocking utility comes in the box ffs!
Safe: 350Mhz / 1000Mhz
O/C: 400Mhz / 1100Mhz
Do you think my card is buggered? I was running hammer, CSS and firefox... but it should be fine!
grrr!

Hold yer horses m8, Since yesterday evening i have been dropping back to desktop and on ocasion rebooting while playing cs also. Haylo has had the same prob, now i dont know if its our own machines or something to do with steam. Have u played any other games and had the same effect or just in cs?
If it is ur card then i may be selling mine, GF 6800 Ultra, 2 months old, just cos im gonna buy a whole new machine. Otherwise its the best card on the market at the mo.

Just in CS and then again after the PC reset itself. Maybe CS did something to the GFX card and then it had a hangover.
I've just switched to the new beta NVidia drivers to see if this improves things.
I dont want to buy a new card- this one cost me about 300 quid only 8 months ago.
Anyone else seen this?

jaggedy grey diagonals all through the screen sound like artifacts to me
these usually appear when the card has been pushed to far and is ubder heavy strain
if they are artifacts and even on hammer its crashing i'd return the card
the gainward cards are gauranteed to work at the enhanced mode setting
and should have no problem with tweaking after that
try running 3dmark2005 on enhanced in a loop 4 or5 times on max settings to really test it out if the jaggedy things appear put the gard in safe mode and re do the tests
you can compare ur scores with the ones you did when you got the card an see if theres any difference
if theres a big one.......
it sounds like its starting to break in a major way noodz
get i sent back and at least they can test it out for ya

It doesnt even let me do anything- as soon as I start any 3d app the jagged stripes appear and the whole PC crashes completely- freezes up and then restarts itself.
Gonna call kustom tomorrow. Its definitely fooked.
I'm hoping they'll send me a better one as a replacement because mine is one of the very first GTs to come out- I dont think Gainward even make them any more...
Fingers crossed I'll get a better card out of this.
