im so fuking bored @ work aint had a phone call for about 4 hours just been starin at screen + im still hanging from last night. so just been doin a txt document with all the tweaks i know / i used to use when i was a apparantley a bs c**t back in the 1.1 / 1.3 days

ok i dont really use any of these now as i just tend to install windows and download as much filthy porn as possible and cant be assed tweakin a computer and messing with cs settings.

But they will deffinatley help and should give u reg like the bs **** known as kardy

ok lets begin

[Gamma / Brightness]

Ive always thought changing the gamma in driver options was aload of crap sometimes when u load cs ect it keeps the default gamma which is annoying

I Found a program called gamma panel The program works pretty similar to Color profiles in PowerStrip but is completely free and much smaller in terms of system load and memory usage

http://www.carm0.co.uk/CounterStrike/Gamma/gapa.zip />
open gapa.exe when u open it the default gamma/brightness settings will be loaded. I create a profile for the default settings as i dont like high gamma in windows desktop. U can do this by doing the following - create a hotkey to load the default settings u can do this by moving the cursor into the hotkey box and pressing a key i use NUM - then simpley click save as and name the profile default. Now to get the cs gamma perfect. move the slider gamma bar to around 1.50 and leave brightness and contrast on default i find these to be about the best settings. Move the cursor to the hotkey box and press a key i use NUM + then click save as and name it Gamegamma. Thats it done if u press NUM - it loads default gamma which is ideal for desktop ect. Then when ur playing games if u press NUM + it will load the modifed gamma settings which makes u see alot better. If u dont want to open the program everytime windows loads simpley drag the gapa.exe to start/programs/startup i recommend doing this

[Mouse Accel Stuff]

personally i dont use mouse accel and i suggest u get rid of it. The best way to get rid of it is to do the following

1 http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~carmo/Mouse%20Accel/XPaccelfix.reg << double click on this to remove accel from windows

2 untick enhance pointer precision in mouse properties

3 add these to cs launch options -noforcemaccel -noforcemparms << This removes accel for CS only

4 If u installed Mouse fix in num 1 and dont like it and want to return to windows xp default accel run this http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~carmo/Mouse%20Accel/XPaccelfixremove.reg />
[Mouse usb hertz]

The default hertz for a usb mouse is 125hz but u can now hack it to 250hz 500hz and 1000hz this makes the mouse movement alot more smoother and accurate

simpley run this http://www.carm0.co.uk/CounterStrike/Mouse/usbmouseratehack.rar and follow the simple instructions

if u got 1 of the following mouses use these settings

mx510 - 500mhz or 250hz work best
razer diamondback - 1000hz or 500hz work best
intelli Explorer3/4 250hz or 500hz work best

[Mouse other stuff]

Go to device manager right click on ur mouse and select properties/powermanagement and untick allow the computer to turn off this device to save power and also untick allow this device to bring the computer out of standby

[Connection Settings]

I used to use this tool called tcp optimizer it automatically sets best settings for ur connection it changes rwin and a few other settings which deffinatley improves reg

http://www.carm0.co.uk/CounterStrike/Connection/TCPOptimizer.exe />
choose ur connection at top choose optimal settings and click apply changes and reboot

XP Bandwidth Throttling Fix
The Professional version of XP has an interesting setting which will not be useful to gamers, and which is unfortunately rather irritating to turn off. If done however, it can yield up to a 20% increase in bandwidth for network connections. But prepare for some involvement:

1. Log in as Administrator (not 'an' administrator, but as the specific account).
2. Click Start | Run | gpedit.msc (runs Group Policy Editor).
3. Expand the tree Computer Configuration | Administrative Templates | Network | QoS Packet Scheduler
4. Open the 'Limit reservable bandwidth' setting.
5. Check 'Enable' and set percentage to '0%'. Close gpedit.
6. Open your Network Settings (Start | My Computer |My Network Connection| View Network).
7. Open the properties of your connection and verify that QoS Packet Scheduler is enabled.
8. Close and reboot.

If like me u use a nvida network adapter go to device manager right click on nvidia nforce networking controller and slect properties/advanced tab optimize for and change this to throughput

[REG Settings]

The following stuff aint gurenteed to improve reg but it will make ur computer run alot smoother and should definatley improve reg

1 start run / msconfig / startup/ disabled everything in here but leave the essential things ticked eg mouse drivers / anti virus if u use 1

2 start run %temp% and empty eveything in there also start run temp and delete evertyhing in there

3 disabled windows automatic updates and also disabled any other auto updates eg virus updates nothing worst than downloading updates when ur playing

4 if u use bittorrent and use bittornado when u exit the program it does not exit and lies in processes and canes bandwith kill it by going into task manager / processes / btdownloadgui right click and end process or use a different bit torrent client eg azerus

5 download adaware / spybot s&D / microsoft anti spyware to get rid of any spyware on ur system

6 http://www.blackviper.com/ take alook here and disable services u dont need

7 i honestley dont think u need a virus program it just hogs memory and makes u lag horribley in games just be carefull wot sites / downloads u make if u think u have a virus just run a online scanner

8 download a program called registry mechanic it clears all the crap/leftover stuff that shouldnt be in the registry and is a must program to have

9 download a program called O&O Defrag pro it pisses all over the default defrag tool in windows and will make ur computer run alot better / smoother

10 always make sure vsync is set to off

11 set memory voltage to 2.8 in bios default is 2.6 this makes system alot more stable u can also lower ram timings i use 6-3-3-2 with my 1GB of corsair pro memory this varies on all memory try to find out ur memorys timings - lower timings seem to make recoil alot better

12 disable all bios cachable options in bios and also disable comport 3 and make sure fastwrites is set to on and AGP apertue size is set to 256mb or 128mb

13 always used tweaked gfx drivers i personally use omega drivers for my radeon 9800 pro

14 disable autoplay on all drives

15 download a memory cleaner program something like FreeRAM XP v1.40 and run it before u play

[CS Configs]

Configging is pointless nowadays valve removed all the hax cmds in 1.5 i think but there is still 1 or 2 commands which helps with reg but basically a default cfg seems to work best

cl_cmdbackup "0"
cl_resend "0"
gl_max_size "512"
rate "20000"
cl_rate "20000"
ex_interp "0.01"
cl_smoothtime "0.01"

THe End

Hope it explains some things for some of you :)

Would call the memory thing overclocking and not tweaking...

the gamma thing im not too sure about, it can be a lil unfair, e.g. a dark sewer, you can see evrything but no1 else can, its s bit like having a wallhack really, being able to see where others cant!

that said, my monitor is ace for sum reason at dark maps, even with standard gamma

how can having gamma turned up be compared to a wallhack??
well ban me cause i run my monitor with it nice and bright
ie in the tunntles of the old milita map (1.5 where you could switch the lights off/on) i could see in the dark
i remember the first map i ever played, it was dust2 and i couldnt see in the tunnels on that map until my m8 told me to up the gamma ingame

i can too, including all of italy2 except the tunnel to the marketplace, and the room upstairs from the barrel cellar, all i'm saying is it can be a big advantage, but it can also be unfair to people who either don't have hardware that will show things up, or that don't understand the gamma setting...

i mean ideally, for a fair game, everyone needs the exact settings, so noone can see more than anyone else, because then it's more skill-oriented rather than having the advantage of being able to see further, but that's why the game has nightvision :P

Are you gonna ask PowerStrip users to stop using that too?

grrr don't get mad at me :P im just saying that's all, it's only like havng a more accurate mouse, or a higher resolution, or a faster connection etc. but if in a proffessional competition, say a proper lan tournament, itd be best if every1 had to use the same computers dont u think?

Better accept the fact that this is not going to happen m8....

Besides I love to use powerstrip and to me it has very little to do with haxxing. Some cars just have better headlights than others.

And for all you fruitcakes that don't use Powerstrip....

Either get it, or buy goggles for most maps, or stop moaning alltogether...

I'm just wondering how you are going to do the close quarters combat without mouse acceleration?

Just my 2 cents
