Hi All,
Ok, my new beast of a computer has finally arrived (after a slight problem with Amtrak and there deliver times) and it roxs, played DOOM3 yesterday with video setting on high and it is a joy to behold.
Unfortunately I have hit my first BIG problem. I have a new cordless mouse and keyboard (I think this is the one)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0007UAY9U/qid=1114420892/sr=1-122/ref=sr_1_2_122/026-7765757-8870018
Problem:
Without the logitech setpoint drivers installed the mouse reaction in CS is totally useless. It drifts and aiming is almost impossible.
With the drivers installed the two thumb buttons are not recognized (by CS) and therefore CS is difficult to play as I have my last weapon and walk on them.
Help please.......

I had this problem with my mx510...
Drivers installed- aiming was even worse than its normally
(it was changing speed even though everything was ok in the settings) and the buttons didnt work (only mouse 1 & 2)
I turned that programm off (that logitech mouse thing) and my aiming was ok (crap as always) again.
After reformatting my other mouse buttons were working as well (no drivers installed)
(Btw and your aiming is even worse than mine so stop blaming your mouse. you sux! ;P )

Ooo thats not good Jackal, because with any logitech mouse drivers installed, CS won't recognise the extra buttons on the mouse. It sounds like your either going to have to change your mouse, or learn to live without the buttons :(

Must be because you use Urdy Gurdy drivers :p. The english ones don't work with CS (For the MX700 at least). I tried the latest versions etc etc, and never had any joy. They will only work if you stick to the standard XP drivers.

Cheers Mr fishy,
Is it just a case of unistalling the setpoint drivers or do I need to reinstall the standard XP drivers from disk/website.
Cheers,
Karl

Likewise! Am enjoying Star Wars by the way but IGI2 is bloody hard :D A good challenge!
On my mx510 I have assigned most of the buttons to keys but some games still won't recognise them. CS is ok though.

I've got a bugdet trust mouse but it works fine with the win xp drivers.
I can't configure the extra buttons without but that doesn't matter. Good thing it does work perfectly with cs1.6.
I don't really know what can cause the problem as it should be quality mouse.
I fu can't fix it then buy this one maybe???

Well, well!
Sorted the key bind problem. Simply went in to the mouse setup and set previous weapon to the letter G and binded G in CS (hmmmm). However I am still getting horrible drift on the mouse, CS seems to lag behind the mouse movements. Any ideas? I have gone back to my corded mouse and keyboard in the mean time.
Thx,

Try tweaking mouse sensitivity and turning the smooth mouse movememnts on and off in options.

Here is the next thing I will try.
I will uninstall the logitech drivers and reinstall the standard XP drivers. I am pretty sure that the logitech drivers dont completely put back the standard drivers after an unistall. Then I will install CPL registry hack which totally turns off the embedded mouse acceleration in the standard drivers.
Any further ideas............

Jackal dunno if this will help but it helps me with my Logitech 510..
Its called the CPL mouse fix :D.
You can get it here,
http://www.gotfrag.com/portal/files/82/
Its a reg file so just open it and add it to your registry files and then reboot your pc.
See if it improves your mouse?

lol just read some mouse posts today... mx1000 laser mouse... an optic mouse isnt a laser mouse ffs.. we have a laser mouse at work and trust me 10 buttons and over 500 pounds isnt a gaming mouse OK!?!?!
its made for designing engine stuff... an mx1000 isnt nearly the same laseroptic technology....

Assign them to keys and bind the keys... works fine with mine.
i.e. in the mouseware shite assign button 5 to letter 'x' then in CS bind x 'say Ging felches goats'
the cursor of the cordless/wireless mouse tends to move on their own, even though when u using a mousepad.
and they arent accurate as they are claimed to be. I sold my logitech mouse anyways.
oh, and so far, i found that a cheap Microsof Intellimouse is so much more better than any other ordinary mouse.

All that remains to do is to learn how to play CS again. The feel of the mouse is totally different. I may considering upgrading my LX700 (not gaming standard, but good) to a MX1000. Any thoughts on this????

for games you realy do need a cord on your mouse imo

if you do decide to get a corded mouse (I have a MX510) then the usbmouserate hack might come in handy. It changes the standard 125Mhz to 500Mhz (think it's response freq).
It smoothes out movement for better accuracy in CS.
