How do I find exactly what RAM I have ie specific details such as pins, parity etc etc. Is there a decent program to scan it and tell me ? I tried crucial but they do not have my model computer and their scan does not work on my computer for some reason. Secondly, any good sites where I can buy some when I find out what I need.
Any advise would be appreciated.

The memory in use in these machines is DDR 400MHz, and is likely to fit the specs listed here - http://md8083.hertsinternet.com/memory.shtml Even if it isn't exactly the same, if you buy a stick of 512 DDR 400Mhz then it will work anyway. It sounds like you might only have 2 slots, both already taken up by 2x 256 Meg (Opening the case will be the easiest way to check this out). If it's a single stick of 512 then this is what your after - http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=52561 If it's 2 sticks of 256 then you might as well buy this - http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=82592
