I've been playing on LoonyAsylum's Counter-Strike Source server for a while now, since Jolt's servers are quite vacant recently.
I've also been working on a level for myself, called de_supermarket.
So without further ado: http://www.banana.nu/?section=viewitem.maps.map.main.5669
Any comments about lag would be appreciated because I haven't been able to play with people online. Ofcourse I'd love to see it end up into the server rotation ;)

yer making a 16 player map you want to put on a 32 player server is not very smart :D
and whats de_noodle???? A map? hmm havent heard about it before :p

Fear not! My map fully supports 32 spawnpoints PER TEAM if necessary, if you really wanted to do that... :P
I just meant that the optimum amount is 16, although Loony's 30 player server should still be applicable for fun gameplay.
I thought it said Recommended player amount, but checking it again, it does say Recommended/Maximum. But you have nothing to fear, 16 is recommended and 64 is maximum.

So when would it be taken for testing by the Loony Admins?
I also just found out you need a .res file in order to make Steam download custom content when joining a server, since I have no real place to upload stuff, here is the text:

Put that in your Maps folder where the .bsp file is and make it with Notepad (NOt Wordpad!) and name its extension .res and it should work fine. Only the server host needs this I believe, so Loony Admins, you'd got a tad bit more work ;)

Hmmm just played it. Its very big and to me much of the map is wasted. It feels cavernous and you have some well-crafted areas witrh lots of good detail but others that look amateurish or empty. I also find that the vents are completely wasted... there only seems to be one entrance behind the boxes? And you get completely lost in them... There also doesnt seem to be much point to a lot of the map. The only viable bombsite for the T's is the 'a' one as there is no other clear route to the other site...
I dunno- sorry if I sound negative.. I just found it didnt play well at all. Maybe its because I only tried it with bots but... it just doesnt work for me.

Well, that's the idea of the vents, it's got several exits (Including one very nicely positioned behind one of the heavy doors leading to Bombsite B) but it takes time to navigate and it isn't easy. Using nightvision is in your best interest!
Also keep in mind I had the onfortunateness of not being able to play it online with people, I don't have the money to rent a server and not enough people to gather together at one specific time.
I also went for the more baren look because it's a Supermarket, what's it supposed to be? Cheap but durable. Resulting in a cold and friggid feel.. or is my local Supermarket just really different in feeling big ass and cheap? :P
I love honest feedback though, because it's useful feedback! :)

Re playtesting- befriend a nice clan (like in my case the lovely BR clan) and they may well test the map for you on their own server. I learnt a lot about it that way...
OK so we have spotted that it is difficult to find the entrances and exits to the vents- maybe they could be more obvious... or maybe its just me being thick. Is there any way to make the vents more navigatable? Maybe putting side grates so you can get a feel of where you are?
Re the coldness and frigidity (:D) its just a big contrast between the dining area and the rest. Maybe consider using more decals to liven it up... also the shelves in the main supermarket area... Is there any way to make them a bit less bland and blocky? The bit with the baby dolls is great but the rest? And also the kiddies area is weird... it needs to be more colourful like a real kiddy area... Dunno how- again maybe a big barney pic on the wall or something?
Hope this helps.

The vents were specifically designed to be difficult to navigate. Its path leads right up to the kitchen if you have some time to kill, so it's supposed to have some challenge to it ;)
The big contrast you're talking about is exactly what I also tried to pull off: This loving Restaurant in old fashioned wood (Usually a different company, but incorporated into the Supermaret) compared to the cold industrial Supermarket going for the pure hard cash. I know it doesn't look as good but it's more realistic.
More decals are a splendid idea though, I only really used them at both Bombsites.
And the Toy Area might indeed could've benefited from more colour... but again, remember, they're cheap basterds :P
