its all good & well having lots of servers i.e css c.s 1.6 & fun but u can't sort reg out on 1.6 now people saying route is crap on source but DD is saying its isp....route to 4u is shit so its-
4u's crappy servers not isp's . i can get a good connection 2 others servers that don't use 4u & now u want a DoD server. Sort out 1.6 cos thats what we started the server 4 & don't give me that crap about isp cos when it was Sparkys CZ it was great no lag or reg probs.Stop thinking about the money the game is 4 fun but its no fun when try & run TK, fun, css ,1.6 & DoD from 1 box

Nothing wrong with the reg. Most of the complaints seem to come from people with rates far too high for a high fps server. That's their own fault and I dont see why the server should be downgraded to suit that minority of players.

I'm sorry if a few individuals have poor routing. The fact that the vast majority do not suggests it is their problem and not 4u. You are with AOL. AOL does seem to be mentioned a lot when it comes to poor routing.

When it was on sparkys box, it was 1.5 and mostly default maps. Reg on 1.5 was better than 1.6. Default maps can be run on very basic systems.

We have 2 boxes, the 1.6 server has 4 CPUs and currently running 2 games. There is scope to run 2 more games on it with 1 per CPU. Its barely ticking over.

If you want to pay £2800 a year and take over then you are more than welcome. Personally, its a drop on the ocean for me. However, I do think it should cover the costs. Its not a priorty of mine though as many of the paying members will tell you when it comes time for them to pay me.

I have seen a few whinges about bullet reg with the new server and the people concerned have stupidly high rates. Once they lower the rates, the reg improves for them.

The old server used to run around 25-60 fps. So you were getting 25-60 updates per second sent out. If you updaterate was 101, you were still only getting 25-60 so it didnt matter if you had 101 as you were not getting anywhere near that. The new server runs around 80-150fps. That is great as it should improve reg. However, this means the server is now sending out 80-150 updates a second and those with 101 updaterate are now getting maxed out with updates, getting choke and lower reg. Those with sensible rates are getting great reg.

I am not going to downgrade the server because a few people want to run their own setup with LAN rates. If you want to play on a server with 101 101 25000, then go find one with a server fps of 25-66fps where your 101s will fit in nicely.

There are 3 causes of poor reg currently that are likely to impact on the server

1 - poor rates on the client
2 - low fps due to graphics card on the client (there are quite a few maps which need better graphics cards)
3 - first person bug. The person with fpb is going to be hard to hit regardless of the server you are on.

I do have to agree with DD on this one, since we got a new box it's been loads better. I personally do believe it's down to the individual rather than our box. There's nothing else we can do to make it better for you, the box is shit hot, and 99% of people have no problems. The simple answer is try playing around with your rates, espcially as they need changing for every server you play on, and secondly don't play on LA, simple as that.

Sparky's server was hosted at Tiscali's head office with a direct link to a net backbone, hence the superb rates.

there is no tk server running on the box by the way :) REg is fine on loony since the upgrade, only crap reg when you shooting at sponges like fragstealer and ak47 and a few others.
