nice i like the bryce one, how long did it take to render? i heard those things can take up to 6 hours lol

Probably about 2 to 3 hours. I left it running overnight and when I got up my gf had reset the PC so I didnt get a render time. To be honest though its just using the fast and simple mirror texture so it isnt a big job. I want to try and do a bit more stuff in bryce- its very impressive!

I actually got the idea off a tutorial on that forum you are on. Lost of good stuff on there by the way... :D

Theres a tutorial on the forum bluebolt is on (cant rem name) - basically create a sphere and some arcy things around it. Copy and arrange suitably- apply a nice texture (i just used mirror) and then encase the whole thing in a jet black sphere with a couple of white light point. Set it to render...

Bryce is a cunt to use though and takes hours to render anything so be prepared to be VERY patient!

ANyone know any good 3dmax tutorials?

neoakuma
6th September '05, 23:13
3ds max x bible (x being version) book is great, for beginner to advanced, comes with cd with tuorials on it, tells you how to use almost every feature. it might not be free like online stuff but its worth the cash. if you "acquired" 3ds max and also want to animate characters make sure to "acquire" character studio as it makes rigging and animation a lot easier, practically does half the job for you

3ds max has a user reference that explains how to use each feature e.g creating shapes etc. it will just take time to go through it looking for what you want. books are the best way to learn, online tutorials are always specific eg modelling certain things or how to do this and that.
